Kayaking in Thailand
Kayaking is both exciting and relaxing, a paddle down one of Thailand's jungle rivers is one of the most rewarding ways to see the interior of this beautiful country. We offer a range of trips varying in difficulty and length. From a historical tour of the River Kwai to all action expeditions down the Mae Khlong in Umphang district. Weekend trips to Kao Yai are run regularly whilst expeditions to the Mae Taeng (Chiang Mai), Mae Kok (Chiang Rai) and further a field can be run for groups of 6 or more.
The rivers of Thailand are ideal for learning the art of paddling. They offer a great deal of variety ranging from slow moving open water to fast moving white water containing fixed obstacles. For beginners we recommend that you start on the River Kwai for training before embarking on the white water trips (especially between July and November when the rivers run fast.) The Kwai Noi river winds its way through one of Thailand's most scenic national parks passing the Sai Yok Yai and Sai Yok Noi waterfalls. Our paddling safari takes us past the waterfalls to the Khmer ruins of Prasat Muang Sing, a wonderful relaxed sightseeing paddle.
The Kwai Yai serves as our training river, as we make use of the Felix resorts facilities to learn the skills of kayaking. Pachinbui is a wonderful introduction to white water, as we take on the rapids of Gaeng Hin Poeg from our jungle base camp. For the more adventurous our Umphang Expedition is the ultimate challenge.
